The major build is due to start in the third week of January 2017. It is critical that the parish understands that the logistics and size of this build will result in serious disruption to the use of our facilities.
I would like to highlight that it will be necessary for all of us to be both understanding and considerate during this time. For almost 5 months we will indeed experience times when two groups may need to be in the same space. For example I can imagine that the Sunday 9.15 am congregation will be finishing their morning tea when the Seekers Leaders (Sunday School leaders) will arrive to begin preparations for the next service. These times will be unavoidable.
During the build we will only be able to use the church, toilets, playground and the large hall. ALL other buildings will be unavailable. Any of us who have been involved in a home renovation will know that for a period of time you can feel like you are ‘living in each other’s pockets’ – and that will certainly be the case for us in the first half of 2017.
It will also mean that certain functions will not be possible. For instance we cannot hold funerals in the mornings due to our regular bookings and catering for funerals any larger than 50 people will not be possible. Furthermore it will simply not be possible to hold the parish fair in February.
I wish to draw your attention to Building Update #5 for more information on the build and the impact on ministry next year.
Again I encourage us to use this as a time to train in and develop the Fruit of the Spirit – particularly the fruit of ‘patience’, ‘kindness’, ‘gentleness’ and ‘self-control.’
Thank you for your understanding.
